Two types of particle output are potentially generated by PT3p/PT2p, depending on the simulation properties. Particle tracks are output based upon the Particle Output > Orbits parameter, and snapshots of particle positions in time are output if this parameter is set to true. The latter can be used to create particle animations.
A particle track is the time history of the particle, typically rendered as a set of line segments connecting time-consecutive positions along the particle path. Particle tracks cannot be animated.
A snapshot displays the location of all the particles in the system at a particular instant in time, rendered as a set of dots. Snapshots can be animated.
