  1. On the Structure ribbon in the Entity Creation group, click Draw Entity and choose Box from the drop-down menu.

  2. Draw a box with the corner at (0.0, 0.0, 0.0) cm and an extent of (1.0, 0.6, 0.2) cm.

  3. On the Structure ribbon in the Entity Modification group, click Advanced and choose Reference a Solid.

  4. Pick the box and press Enter (or choose Done from the context menu) to create the reference. Click OK on the resulting dialog. The reference will now present in the Browser tree. At this time, it is identical to the original box, so it is rendered in the same location making it difficult to notice in the view.

  5. Next, we will create a new relative coordinate system to separate the two solids. On the Structure ribbon in the Coordinate System group, click New Relative

  6. In the dialog, change the Origin to (3, 0, 0).

  7. Select the Solid Reference_2 in the structure Browser and change the Coordinate System to Relative CS_1.

    Which will result in the view reflecting the new position of the reference.

  8. Next, change the Material of Solid Reference_2 to Copper.

  9. Next, change the height of the original box by modifying the Extent to (1, 0.6, 1).

    Observe that both boxes change height.
