5.2.3.2. Wave Ports

A wave port introduces energy into the simulation domain by exciting the field on the port plane. For each wave port and simulation frequency, the solver extracts the mesh in the port plane and performs an eigenmode analysis on the structures in that plane. The solution is an accurate representation of the fields and currents that would impinge upon the structure if the wave port plane extended indefinitely into the space outside the structure.
