2.2.1. Creating, Opening, and Saving a Model

Creating a model is the first step towards simulating.

When you start the Analyst program, a default empty model opens. You can only open one model at a time, although you can run more than one instance of the program. The name of the open model displays in the title bar.

To create a new model, click the File button and choose New. Name the new model by choosing Save As from the same menu. The model name displays in the title bar.

To open an existing model, click the File button and choose Open to display the Open dialog box. Start typing in File name and the list is filtered to display only those projects that match the text you type.

To close the current project, click the File button and choose Close. You are prompted to save your changes, and the project is saved (if specified) and closed.

To save the current model, click the File button and choose Save. The file is automatically compressed using an internal compression algorithm and saved as an *.apz file.
