3.5.3. Importing Solids

You can import solids from the following file types:

On the Structure ribbon in the Entity Creation group, click Import Entities and choose Import Entities (SAT, IGES, STEP, etc.) from the drop-down menu. To disable auto healing of the imported geometry, clear the AutoHeal check box. Select the file(s) you want to import and then click Open. For more information on the parameters for importing DXF and GDSII files, see “Parameters for DXF/GDSII File Import”. For information on limitations on the import of DXF files, see “Limitations on DXF File Import”.

On the Structure ribbon in the Entity Creation group, click Import Entities and choose one of the following options from the drop-down menu to import wire solids from points in an ASCII text (*.txt) file:

Select a file name and unit in which the points in the file are defined, then click OK. The points in the text file are imported as lines, as a polyline, or as a spline, depending on the chosen format.

For more information about the rules governing formatting of these files, see “Point File Format”.

You can also insert points from a file into an existing multipoint wire solid (polyline or spline). For further information, see “Editing Wire Polylines and Splines”.
