Field annotations are used to visualize fields on finite element meshes. Annotations associated with vector data display an oriented glyph at each node of the finite element mesh, colored according to the field magnitude at that point. Annotations associated with scalar data display an overlay on the mesh, colored according to the interpolated field magnitude. Depending on the simulation, the annotation can represent a field on the complete computational mesh of the structure or possibly meshes corresponding to just wave ports in the case of a driven frequency simulation. Fields are often annotated to help understand details of the electromagnetic behavior of a structure that would otherwise be difficult to comprehend.
