3.1.2.1. Methods of Camera Interaction

If the MWO Mouse Interaction Mode environment variable is False:

Camera Action

Direction

User Input

Zoom

In/out

Scroll the mouse wheel.[1]

Shift + press the middle mouse button. Drag up/down.

Pan

Left/right

Shift + scroll the mouse wheel.

Up/down

Ctrl + scroll the mouse wheel.

Any

Ctrl + press arrow keys.

Ctrl + press the middle mouse button and drag.

Rotate[2]

Any

Press arrow keys. Angular increment is set by Camera Rotation Increment environment variable.

Shift + press arrow keys. Angular increment is 90-degrees.

Press the middle mouse button and drag.

Spin

Clockwise/counter-clockwise around view axis

Alt + press arrow keys. Angular increment is set by Camera Rotation Increment environment variable.

Fit To View

Double-click the middle mouse button.

Area Pick

Click left mouse button, drag to left to select a region of interest. Only items completely within the selected region are picked.

Click left mouse button, drag to right to select a region of interest. All items intersecting the region of interest are picked.

[1] The camera zooms in towards the mouse cursor and out from the center of the view. If the working plane is visible, the spacing of the major and minor working plane grid lines is automatically optimized and displayed in the upper left corner of the view.

[2] The camera rotates around the "rotation center." This is the point on the geometry nearest the cursor if sufficiently close, otherwise it rotates about the center of the visible model. While the middle mouse button is depressed, a marker displays in the view at the rotation center when appropriate.

If the MWO Mouse Interaction Mode environment variable is True (the default when acting as the Microwave Office 3D Editor) differences from the list above include:
