3.8.11.1. Copying and Pasting Sketch Points

You can copy and paste the creation location or the evaluated (transformed) location of a point in a sketch element into a text file for future reference. You can also paste the location of one point onto the location of a point in the same or another sketch element, which has the effect of updating the location of the second point.

To copy and paste point locations to a text file:

  1. On the Structure ribbon in the Entity Creation group, click Create Sketched and select Sheet (2D).

  2. On the Sketch ribbon in the Element Creation group, click Draw Segment and select one of the segments. Create the selected segment. For more information see the list of sketch element types.

  3. Click your new element to select it. On the Sketch ribbon in the Element Modification group, click Transform and select Translate. Click one of the points on your new element and translate the element. For more information, see sketch element translations.

  4. Click a point on your translated element, then right-click and choose Copy Evaluated Location from the context menu. You can now open a text editor and paste the evaluated (transformed) location to the editor. If you want to copy the original (untransformed) location to the editor, click the point on your translated element, then choose Copy Creation Location from the context menu, and paste it to the text editor.

To copy and paste point locations to other points:

  1. On the Structure ribbon in the Entity Creation group, click Create Sketched and select Sheet (2D).

  2. On the Sketch ribbon in the Element Creation group, click Draw Segment and select one of the segments. Create the selected segment. For more information see the list of sketch element types.

  3. Click the node for your new element in the Browser to bring up the point locations, then right-click and choose Copy Creation Location from the point context menu. Click and drag to highlight the location of one of the other points (not the one whose location you just copied) in the Browser. Right-click and choose Paste from the context menu. The location of the second point is updated.
